News - Japan: Weekly software sales for 4/23 - 4/29

Posted by Josh Freund at 11:48:31 PM EST on 5.8.2007.

No, we didn't forget to post the weekly numbers last week. Because of a certain group of holidays taking place in Japan called Golden Week, the official Media Create figures were delayed until this week.

Nintendo actually got the top 16 for this week, and there were no PS3 games in the top 50.

Game over man.

(Of course it's important to note that of those few games, an NBA game was probably the most exciting).

There are also better games availble on 360. I remember seeing a list of PS3 releases for Japan in April (or maybe it was even all of Q2) and it had like 3-4 games. It's like N64 all over again.

Yeah it is impressive Unforgiving. Whats more impressive is the fact that despite a much smaller userbase the 360 has sold and continues to sell more software than the PS3 in Japan. There are no PS3 titles in the top 50, there are 2 360 titles and the PS3 has over twice the userbase. One thing is consistent about the 360 world wide. 360 owners buy a lot of games.

A good week overall, but not to be unexpected since it was the pre-golden week week. It is a little refreshing to see a 3rd party dev get a wii game in the top 10. Offers some hope to me.

They need to hurry up and get Panel de Pon DS to the states. I'm craving me some panel de pon.

Siraileron, or maybe it's a good game with legs lasting at least a few weeks?

Pretty strong sales week. I enjoy seeing SE games do well on the DS, because it gives me hope that I will be getting more of them in the future.

I know it's not reflected in the article, but the Xbox 360 had two titles in the top 30: Test Drive Unlimited and Rainbow Six Vegas. One of them was sitting at #16, but I can't remember which one.

Pretty impressive.

Man... Mario Vs DK 2? In the top 10? Something tells me that the game well is all-around dry. ._.

daetrin, I had to read your comment like 3 times to understand it. XD Yeah, you're right. The Wii is only going to manage not to be a fad if there are some third parties on there. I'm thinking the US is gonna demand more than a One Piece game, though.

Also, hooray for Super Paper Mario and Phoenix Wright 4?

btw, what's Momotarou Dentetsu DS: Tokyo & Japan?

It's good to see a non-Nintendo Wii game break into the top 10, it's been quite awhile since that happened last.

Nintendo had some hard hitters this week, and looks like the One Piece game sold respectably (sales will probably drop quickly, though). Wii Sports continues to make a strong showing. I have high hopes for Revenant Wings, and no doubt that it's going to hit 2 million at the least.

High sales, and a Nintendo Top 10.

Let's see how the Golden Week moves software and hardware.

This sales are pre- Golden Week, so expect higher numbers!!!!

Panel de Pon aka Tetris Attack coming in so low is a travesty.

But almost understandable due to the shocking number of high profile games being released. Glad to see some Wii games that don't have Wii in the title on the top ten.
